Winter Silhouette

Whether I’m creating or listening, music grounds me, lifts me, and reminds me who I am.
— Winter Silhouette

Winter Silhouette is the ambient project of Lewis Broad-Ashman, a composer based in Brighton, UK. Growing up in the 80s and 90s, music was always a big part of his life. His mum had five brothers, one of them plays bass in The Cure, so he spent a lot of time around music and going to gigs at a young age. Those early memories stuck with him, and music quickly became something much deeper than just background noise.

For Lewis, music has always been a way to make sense of things, a way to feel, to process, and to breathe. He played his first gig at 15 in a shoegaze band with his brother, and he hasn’t stopped making music since.

He started creating ambient music in early 2024 under the name Winter Silhouette. His sound is inspired by a love of nature, especially the ocean, and by the wonder and imagination found in sci-fi.

Outside of ambient, Lewis also explores other sides of electronic music, producing house, future garage, and liminal ambient under different aliases. When he’s not making music, he’s walking his dog through the woods and coastlines that inspire him, plays football or passing on his love of music to the next generation, starting with his two daughters.
