A Looming Mountain
Harbor Rift
Seattle-based composer Kyle Preston returns with a new release on his Harbor Rift project with “A Looming Mountain”, a calm and hopeful journey inspired by the rain-soaked wilderness of the Pacific Northwest.
“A silent heavy mountain never bends. Its air carries a faded ancient voice. Stone and wind, two ways to remember.”
The idea for the release began when the artist found these words scribbled in an old notebook. He doesn’t really know why he wrote them, but they somehow stayed with him. When he started writing the music, those lines became the heart of the project.
With this release, Harbor Rift wanted the songs to feel positive and inspiring, even when there is a feeling of weight or something looming in the background. The music tells the story of finding your way through that feeling - like hiking a steep mountain trail, step by step, until you finally reach the top and can see the world from a calmer place.
A Looming Mountain is filled with gentle textures, warm tones and a sense of quiet strength. It’s music for reflection, for slowing down, and for finding peace in the journey itself.
We are so proud to announce that A Looming Mountain is finally out on all major streaming platforms!
