Nathaniel Goldblatt is an American producer and composer who makes ambient music as The Goodnight Project. Built around gentle piano melodies and spacious sounds, his music offers listeners a place to slow down, focus, or let their thoughts wander.

Nathaniel began writing songs as a child on his grandfather’s upright piano, recording his ideas on a toy tape recorder. As he grew older, he taught himself guitar and bass and sang in rock and pop punk bands. Music took many forms in his life, but the urge to make something of his own stayed with him.

In 2019, Nathaniel was a new father working multiple jobs, with little time left for music. One night, after his family had gone to bed, he put on his headphones and sat down at the keyboard. He found himself playing a melody he had first written years earlier on his grandfather’s piano. That piece became “Enter Moonlight” and marked the beginning of The Goodnight Project. As it found listeners, Nathaniel kept returning to this quieter side of his creativity.

Music helps Nathaniel feel grounded, connect with others, and express his Christian faith. He sees creativity as one way of connecting with God. Through The Goodnight Project, he hopes to share some of the calm he finds in making music. He also fronts the rock project Sleepyheart, keeping room in his life for the emo and pop punk sounds he has long loved.
