Lewis Broad-Ashman is a Brighton-based composer who makes ambient music as Winter Silhouette. Nature, the ocean, and the imagined worlds of science fiction all find their way into his work.

Lewis grew up in the 1980s and 90s in a family where music was always close by. His mum had five brothers, one of whom plays bass in The Cure, and gigs were part of his life from an early age. Those experiences stayed with him. At 15, he played his first gig in a shoegaze band with his brother, beginning a creative life that has taken many shapes since.

For Lewis, making music has always helped him understand what he is feeling. In early 2024, he began exploring that connection through ambient music and gave it the name Winter Silhouette. His love of the sea and the natural world meets his fascination with sci-fi, leaving room in the music for both familiar places and ones he can only imagine.

When Lewis steps away from making music, he likes to walk his dog through the woods and along the coast, play football, and share the music he loves with his two daughters.
