Kyle Preston is a Seattle-based composer whose music grows from a lifelong curiosity about sound, nature, and the world around him. His background in astronomy and astrophysics shapes the way he thinks about music. The vastness and complexity of the universe give him another way to explore space, wonder, and quiet in his compositions. Inspiration also comes from books, passing conversations, and sounds encountered in nature. The ocean, with its depth and mystery, is a recurring presence in his work.

Away from music, Kyle brings the same curiosity to tennis: he plays, watches, and analyzes the sport with a scientist’s enthusiasm. In Harbor Rift, his interests come together in music that invites listeners to slow down and explore.
