Bas Peters van Nijenhof is an artist and musician from the Netherlands who releases ambient music under his own name. Drawing inspiration from nature and his own experiences, he makes music that leaves room for listeners to find their own stories.

His own story began with bands like Linkin Park and a first guitar he still remembers clearly. He plugged it in at his grandmother’s house, through a little practice amp, without really knowing what he was doing. By twelve, he was dreaming of playing in a band. That dream eventually led to his first metal band, while his curiosity kept taking him towards new sounds.

Bas taught himself guitar, piano, and how to record and produce his music. As he explored more instrumental music, he discovered how much a piece could express without words. Ambient gave him somewhere to explore that feeling. Its calmness drew him in, and making it felt both freeing and peaceful. He still plays other kinds of music, including metal, and enjoys the balance between them.

Inspiration often comes while he is out exploring, whether travelling somewhere new or walking through the forests near home with his girlfriend. Sometimes he records the nature sounds around them, bringing a little of those places into his music. Other ideas grow from personal experiences, with both the beautiful and sad moments in his life shaping what he creates.

Away from music, Bas enjoys hiking, discovering new cities, and going to concerts. He also loves an evening at home with his girlfriend and their cat, watching a film like The Lord of the Rings.
